[Background]Peripheral facial paralysis is a common and frequent disease of TCM disciplines. This disease belongs to the traditional Chinese medicine categories of paralysis, wry mouth and mouth-eye udfxrl. It occurs at different ages and seasons, but it’s more common in the winter and summer. The disease is caused by the efficiency of meridians, collaterals empty, cold evil headed the invasion yang meridians and/or Yang collaterals, so that the blood is blocked, the unreasonable meridian, rib vertical relief, inability to recover lead to morbidity. Modern medicine categorized the disease into nervous disease system. The pathogenesis is mainly due to stylomastoid foramen within the facial neuropathy, infection, leading to the nerve edema, ischemia, compression or local blood circulation disorder. The most common phenomenon of peripheral paralysis is mainly caught on one side of the face by the sudden. The symbol of the patients shows:the side of facial muscle paralysis, being petrified, frontal grain disappears, one incomplete eyelid shallow, quarrel prolapse, and inclined toward the healthy side, no frowning, show tine, gills drums and/or whistling. As the most national characteristics and traditional and clinical advantage Chinese medicine, science of acupuncture and moxibustionwas promoted by medical workers for tens of thousands of years. It has contributed great achievement to clinical treatment and Chinese public health and continues to play an important role at health care and basic medical area by the advantage of "jane, will, efficient and cheap". Thus, the combination of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for peripheral facial paralysis in cheap and effective treatment method is the main research direction of clinical workers.[Purpose]We observed60cases of acupuncture treatment of peripheral facial paralysis by using a randomized grouping method and confirmed the treatment methods of combination of moxibustion and acupuncture being feasible for curing the disease and providing theory basis for clinical promotion.[Method] There are60cases of peripheral facial paralysis in total in this research. One of the group composed by30cases were treated with combination acupuncture and moxibustion, and the other group of30cases were treated with simple acupuncture method. All of the selections were randomly and both of the treatments lasted for4weeks.After4weeks treatment, we compared the results of clinical symptom scone, facial function improvement and efficacy of maintenance status of the two groups before and after treatment.[Result]1. Before the treatment of two groups, the comparison result of facial nerve function standard score and House-Braehmann scale(H-B scale) showed no significant difference(p>0.05) by statistical analysis.2. There were statistically difference(p<0.05) in the facial nerve function evaluation standard score, showing up both of two groups of patients before and after treatment.3. Two groups of statistical analysis of House-Braehmannscale(H-B scale) showed significant sifference(p<0.05), which were before and after treatment.4. After the treatment, both of the2groups of the facial nerve function evaluation standard score and House-Braehmann score have clinical a curative effect accompanied with statistical difference.[Conclusion]1. Two treatment methods of peripheral facial paralysis by moxibustion and acupuncture and by acupuncture singly were able to improve the patients’clinical symptoms.2. It’s more worthy to spread the treatment of combination of moxibustion cause this kind of treatment showed a better long term efficacy than simple acupuncture treatment. |
