ObjectiveTo assess the clinical effect of utilizing acupuncture combined with Mingmen moxibustion with salt techniques in the treatment of kidney-deficiency type lumbar muscle strain mild.MethodsThis study assessed 60 cases of kidney-deficiency type lumbar muscle strain patients. The treatment group which included 30 patients accepted the acupuncture combined with Mingmen moxibustion with salt techniques, while the control group which included the other 30 patients were treated with the commonly-used acupuncture technique with the same point. After 3 courses of treatment, the scores of VAS and ODI were recorded, and then the clinical effects were compared.ResultsVAS scores:According to baseline data comparison, pain symptoms of the patients with kidney-deficiency type lumbar muscle strain caused higher VAS score level before treatment, and no statistical difference was noted between the two groups. After treatment, the VAS scores of the patients in the two groups were all declined. These two types of treatment can relieve diffrent degrees of pain of the patients in both groups. The treatment group rated 2.31 ± 1.84 and the control group rated 3.56 ± 1.64.By statistical analysis, the treatment group VAS score declined more significantly than the control group(P<0.01).The effect of acupuncture combined with Mingmen moxibustion with salt techniques is more significant.ODI scores:Comparison of baseline data, the two groups of patients before treatment did not have a statistically significant difference of ODI score. After treatment,ODI scores of both the treatment and control groups declined in varying level. After treatment, the score of treatment group was 28.41 ± 8.25 and reached a good score, but the score of control group was 40.91 ± 7.49 which was still in good level.According to data analysis and processing, the ODI score of the treatment group revealed a statistically significant difference to that of the control group(P<0.01).Therefore,the acupuncture combined with Mingmen moxibustionwith salt techniques in improving function recovery is more significant than commonly-used acupuncture techniques.Clinical efficacy comparison:After three courses of treatment, there were 7 cured cases(23.33%),20 effective cases(66.67%)and 3 invalid cases(10.00%)in the treatment group. However, there was 3 cured case(10.00%),19 effective cases(63.34%)and 8 invalid cases(26.67%)in the control group. The total efficacy rate in the treatment group was 90.00%.In the control group, total efficacy rate was just 73.33%.The efficacy of the treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05).ConclusionTo treat kidney-deficiency type lumbar muscle strain,we have many options. In this study we chose acupuncture combined with Mingmen moxibustion with salt which is combined acupuncture with special acupoint Mingmen moxibustion effect together. This method has good effect of relieving pain, and recovering the normal physiological function of lumbar muscle.
