ObjectiveThis research is focus on the patients with lumbar muscle strain treated with point embedding and general practice massage therapy. In order to have more effective and reliable treatment methods on lumbar muscle strain for athletes and prolong career lifespan.By analyzing the differences of the statistic of the Function, Pain score, Clinical physics change, before and after the two therapies. And assess the extent of the recovery and effectiveness of the two therapies through statistical analysis.MethodsAdopt the principle of random assignment, sixty patients whom met the criteria and divided the patients into two groups (1:1)point embedding therapy and general practice massage therapy. Group of point embedding select bilateral Shenshu (BL23)、Dachangshu (BL25)、Ashi points (For unilateral pain, select embedding point at one-sided only), once every ten days with three sessions. Group of massage therapy apply with general practice methods, once every three days with ten sessions. After treatment one month later, using wechat app or phone interview to follow up results. By using statistical analysis software to assess clinical index and effectiveness of the two therapies pre- and post-treatment.Results1. In basic patient details (eg:Gender, Age, Progress, Clinical symptoms) and all clinical indexes (eg:VAS score, PPI score, CODI score, ROM of Waist)of the two groups of patients before treatment, data showed no significant difference, (P> 0.05), comparable.2. Compare the VAS score, PPI score, CODI score, ROM of Waist after treatment between the two groups. Both of two groups are significantly lower than pre-treatment. Data suggested that it has dramastic changes on treatment result under group pair-t analysis. (P<0.05). It revealed that both of approaches have improvement on function, pain score and ROM of waist.3. Under the independent T test, all clinical individual indexes (eg:VAS score, PPI score, CODI score, ROM of Waist) of two groups showed no significant difference on pre-and post-treatment (P>0.05). Difference values of indexes revealed that VAS score has significant difference (P<0.05), PPI score, CODI score and ROM of Waist have no significant difference(P>0.05).4. Effective rate of two groups have no significant difference (P>0.05),96.69%(Experiment group) and 93.33%(Control group) retrospectively.5. By comparing all clinical individual indexes and difference values after a month under the independent T test. Treatment group that VAS, PPI, CODI, ROM of Waist have significant difference after a month lower than the control group. Before treatment and follow-up after a month the index difference comparison it showed significant difference (P<0.05)Conclusions1.Both of groups revealed significant improvement on athletic lumbar muscle strain, pain score and ROM of waist. There is no significance on total effective rate.2.The result of data suggest that the advantages of point embedding therapy come with convenient operation, lesser visit times, non-toxicity side effects and effective treatment in athletic field.
