Objective: To observe comprehensive therapeutic effect of modified Ming Mu Di Huang Decoction combined with auricular acupressure treatment in dry eye of liver and kidney yin deficiency.Method: The subject screened 66 cases of patients with dry eye which were accorded with the inclusive criteria,then divided them randomly into treatment and control groups.The treatment group was treated with modified Mingmu Dihuang Decoction combined with auricular acupressure,while the control group was treated with sodium hyaluronate eye drops.All groups were treated for 1 week as 1 course and continuously 4 weeks in total.Observe curative efeect,total score of clinical symptoms and objective indicators(Schirmer I test,Break up time,and Corneal fluorescein staining)before and after the treatment of two groups of patients,then carries on statistic analysis.Results:1.After 4 weeks of treatment,3 cases dropped out,there was a significant difference in curative effect as the total effective rate of treatment group(32cases)was90.63%,while the control group(31cases)was 64.52%(P<0.05).2.The result of statistical analysis showed that dryness was the most common symptom,then followed by asthenopia and foreign body sensation in nine subjective symptoms of dry eye,the occurrence rate was 100.00 % 、 90.48 % 、 85.71 %respectively,they were three major symptoms in dry eye.3.Comparison in both groups: total score of clinical symptoms and objective indicators(Schirmer I test,Break up time,and Corneal fluorescein staining)were improved after four weeks of the treatment(P<0.05).4.Comparison between both groups: after four weeks of the treatment,the decrease of total score of clinical symptoms from the treatment group was better than that from the control group(P<0.01),objective indicators(Schirmer I test,tear film Break up time,and Corneal fluorescein staining)also better than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Modified Mingmu Dihuang Decoction combined with auricular acupressure on treatment of liver and kidney yin deficiency type of dry eye had a significant effect,better than artificial tears in the control group.2.Modified Mingmu Dihuang Decoction combined with auricular acupressure on treatment of dry eye of liver and kidney yin deficiency had a relatively better effect when compared to the simple treatment of sodium hyaluronate eye drops in the respects of improving clinical symptoms,increasing the amount of tear secretion,enhancing the stability of tear film and reducing the range of corneal fluorescein staining.3.According to the safety standard,the treatment of Mingmu Dihuang Decoction combined with auricular acupressure for dry eye was safe.
