In recent years,with the deepening of cultural exchanges at home and abroad and the rapid economic development,there are more and more foreign medical institutions in China.Foreign patients begin to become the new target for domestic hospital,and the trend of nurse professional development is more and more internationalized.This new demand of nursing industry for health care professionals is the higher standard of professional English knowledge,ability and quality.Under this background,practical oral nursing English teaching takes a greater proportion in English teaching of vocational colleges.In carrying out the guidance of practicality,oral nursing English teaching should focus on the characteristic teaching mode.At present many research scholars and education workers have made the active exploration for combining situation with English,especially with oral English,but it seldom involves in practical oral nursing English teaching.This paper is based on the constructivism theory and cognitive theory of the situation.The application of Situational teaching method in nursing English can improve the effectiveness of oral nursing English input,help students construct a meaningful knowledge and skills framework,apply the results in the test and determine its rationality.Through the teaching experiment,this paper explores the applicability and the practicability of the situational teaching method in practical oral nursing English teaching,and whether students' English learning enthusiasm and initiative can be improved and the goal of servicing for the society is ultimately achieved.In order to confirm situational teaching method can play a positive role in practical oral nursing English teaching,this study selects two classes with same English proficiency----the experiment class(1421)and the compared class(1422)from Nursing Department of Heilongjiang Nursing College as the subjects.It takes situational teaching mode in the experiment class(1421)and traditional classroom setting in the compared class(1422).The experiment lasts 18 weeks.Both the experiment class and the compared class have the pre-test and the posttest in the experimental period.It also carries on the comparison of the test results and analyses the questionnaire before and after the experiment.The result of the study shows the application of situational teaching model can stimulate students to learn oral nursing English,and enhance their self-confidence.In the scene settings and understanding,the teacher helps students improve their oral ability,communication skills and operation ability in nursing procedures.The author puts forward some teaching suggestions according to the results of the study,states the research limitations and shortcomings,and predicts the future research direction...
