ObjectivesTo investigate the quality of life among pacemaker implanted patients, and to explore the correlation between social support, positive psychological capital and quality of life,so as to provide a theoretical basis for the development of effective psychological interventions.MethodUsing convenience sampling,a total of 182 pacemaker implanted patients were interviewed and analyzed in two tertiary hospitals of Shandong Province from March to September in 2016.1nstruments included general data questionnaire,WHO quality of life brief form(WHOQOL-BREF),perceived social support scale(PSSS)and positive psychological questionnaire(PPQ).SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used for statistical analysis, including descriptive analysis, descriptive statistics, independent samples t-Test,ANOVA,correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.Results1.Basic demographic data and clinical data of patients with pacemaker implantationThe age of 182 patients with pacemaker implantation, ranged from 25 to 88 years, with an average of(65.33±12.66)years,53.3%were male;56.0%with BMI index<25;46.7%were or below junior high school level;91.8%married;52.7%lived in the city;67.6%were unemployed;48.9%with a balance of family income and expenditure;64.3%had smoking history, and 53.3%had drinking history. The average time since the first pacemaker implantation was(4.64 ± 5.52)years;among them,45.6%were implanted due to atrioventricular node diseases;72.5%were implanted with a dual chamber pacemaker;93.4%were implanted on the left side;the cardiac function of 91.8%were class 1;and 79.7%had a previous history.2.The scores of quality of life among patients with pacemaker implantation and the difference between its basic demographic and clinical dataThe average self-assessed score of quality of life in pacemaker implanted patients was(80.96± 12.04),the average of each dimension was respectively physiology dimension(13.76±2.42),psychology dimension(14.60±2.11),environment dimension(14.21 ±2.01)and social relations dimension(15.32±1.45).There were significant differences of quality of life score among patients with different age,BMI index, gender, marital status, domicile, education, job, financial status, smoking status, alcohol consumption, exercise, causes and time for pacemaker implantation, and cardiac function classification.3.The correlation between social support, positive psychological capital and quality of life among patients with pacemaker implantationThe scores in all dimensions of social support and quality of life were positively correlated(r=0.237?0.413,P<0.01),scores in all dimensions of positive psychological capital and quality of life were also positively related(r=0.244?0.543,P<0.01).4.Multiple linear regression analysis of influencing factors on quality of life among patients with pacemaker implantationMultiple linear regression analysis showed that, family support could significantly predict the psychological dimension(?=0.242,P=0.002),other support could significantly predict the social relations dimension(?=0.222,P=0.023),self-efficacy could significantly predict physiological dimension(?=0.234,P=0.014),toughness can significantly predict physiological dimension(?=0.204,P=0.004),psychological dimension(?=0.258,P<0.001),environment dimension(?=0.344,P<0.001)and self-reported quality of life score(?=0.211,P=0.010),optimism could significantly predict positive psychological capital(?=0.283,P=0.001)and social relations dimension(?=0· 190,P=0.040).Social support X positive psychological capital could significantly predict self-reported quality of life(?=0.155,P=0.022),physiological dimension(?=0.131,P=0.034)and environment dimension(?=0.130,P=0.026).Social support and positive psychological capital have interaction effects on the quality of life among patients with pacemaker implantation.Conclusion1.The quality of life among patients with pacemaker implanted was at a medium level, the highest score of that was the social relations dimension, while the lowest was the physiological dimension.2.There was a significant positive correlation between social support, positive psychological capital and quality of life among patients with pacemaker implantion.Factors such as family support, other support,self-efficacy,toughness and optimism could significantly predict the quality of life among patients with pacemaker implantation.3.Social support and positive psychological capital have interaction effects on the quality of life among patients with pacemaker implantation.
