The Clinical Study Of Long Box Moxibustion Therapy On Hechelu In Treating Depression Among Brittle Diabetes Patients Differentiated As Spleen And Kidney Deficiency Of Yang Syndrome

Objective:Using the Hechelu theory of famous doctor Li Zhongyu who worked for affiliated hospital of Chengdu university of traditional Chinese medicine, combined with long box moxibustion in treating the patients who suffer from depression resulting from brittle diabetes differentiated as spleen and kidney yang deficiency, to compare difference of the therapeutic effects between the Hechelu therapy and the western medicine Prozac. Screening the efficiency advantages in treating depression among brittle diabetes in yang deficiency of spleen and kidney pattern and providing the evidence for the using of the long box moxibustion and the Hechulu therapy in clinical treatment.Methods:Sixty-five patients were randomly divided into the test group and the control group after excluding the expulsion case(31 cases in test group,30 cases in the control group). The test group treated the disease by long box moxibustion on the Hechelu,1 time per day,10 times for a period of treatment,two period of treatment in total. The control group with the drug Prozac (fluoxetine hydrochloride capsules),40mg a day, taking the Prozac 20 days continuously. To assess the effect of treatment and find the difference, the change of the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) score, Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) score, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scale score were compared between the two groups before treatment and after treatment.Results:(1)Baseline data:The two groups of patients in the age, gender, brittle diabetes duration, depression duration, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scale score, the Hamilton Depression-17 scale score, Self-Rating Depression scale score showed no statistical significance(P>0.05),the baseline level is comparable.(2)Inter group comparison:Comparing the HAMD-17 scale score and SDS scale score between the patients of the two groups after treatment, it was no significant statistical differences(P>0.05); The primary and secondary symptom of TCM syndrome scale score between the two groups were compared, the difference was significant in statistics(P<0.05).(3)Inner group comparison:The HAMD-17 scale score, the SDS scale score and the symptom of TCM scale score were all decreased and showed significance statistical difference(P<0.05) in the two groups.(4)Comparative total effectiveness:After the treatment in the test group:0 cases clinical recovery,19 cases effectualness,8 cases improvement,4 cases inefficacy, the total effective rate was 86.70%;The control group:0 cases clinical recovery,14 cases effectualness,8 cases improvement,8 cases inefficacy, the total effective rate was 73.21%.The effectiveness of the test group was higher than the control group, but there was no differences between groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:(1)The long box moxibustion on the Hechelu in treating the depression resulting from brittle diabetes differentiated as spleen and kidney yang insufficient was better than the Prozac at improving the symptom of TCM, but there was no difference in decreasing the score of HAMD-17 scale and SDS scale.(2)The Hechelu therapy was easy to learn and handle, more effective and safety without toxic side effects, worth to using in the clinical treatment.
