A Meta Analysis Of Longdan Xiegan Tang In Treating Hypertension Based On Randomized Controlled Trials

Objects: To get the evidence about the efficacy and safety of Longdan Xiegan Tang in treating hypertension base on existing studies and to provide reference for writing TCM clinical guidelines.Methods:To carry out electronic retrieval from the database in both English and Chinese and to carry out manual retrieval from proceeding of domestic respiratory disease,and to identify reference from article related appendix as supplement retrieval. We acquired characteristic data after screening, and evaluated the methodology and report quality of RCT in accord with inclusion criteria. Meta analysis was by Revman5.1.0software.Results:(1)The general methodology and report quality of all the trials were relatively low.(2)The advantage did not demonstrate when Longdan Xiegan Tangon used alone in treating hypertesion compared with western drugs, but the combination of Longdan Xiegan Tang and western medicine is more effective in lowering blood pressure than the western medicine alone; In addition, there was more obvious effect in improving symptoms, signs and cardiac function(IVST, LVTWP, LVDD, LVMI, E/A, LVEF) but not in improving blood lipids and heart rate in the group treated with Longdan Xiegan Tang.(3)All the researches did not see any adverse reactions in the group treated with Longdan Xiegan Tang.Conclusion: In the group treated with Longdan Xiegan Tang, the patients showed lower blood pressure and had a better quality of life, in addition, no obvious adverse reactions showing up during the three-months' application of Longdan Xiegan Tang.Although the result was promising, but it could not cover the limitation. First, to the limited number and low quality of included studies could not avoid high possibility of selection bias and publication bias. In addition, the methods to monitor adverse reaction and the way to report adverse reaction accord with criterion. Therefore, the efficacy and safety of Longdan Xiegan Tang in treating primary hypertension is not exact concluded and more researches with high qualities are needed.
