| Objective:The quality of life, the social capital and their influencing factors were investigated among patients living with HIV/AIDS(PLWH). To explore the relationship between quality of life and social capital among PLWH. In this way, we can explore a new way on AIDS care for PLWH. Method:A cross-sectional survey was done in Nanchang, China, during January to June, 2015. Data collection tools were a socio-demographic questionnaire, Personal social capital scale(PSCS) and Medical Outcomes Study HIV Health Survey(MOS-HIV). The Epidata3.1 and the SPSS 22.0 was used to do the data input and statistical analysis respectively. To identify social capital factors influencing quality of life among PLWHAS, t-test, ANOVA and stepwise multiple linear regression were used. Results:The valid questionnaires are 225. This study including 184 males(81.8%) and 41 females(18.2%), the mean ages were 41.39±15.16. The mean scores of total social capital, bonding social capital and bridging social capital were 23.68±5.55, 14.11±3.40 and 9.46±3.43 respectively, the mean scores of PHS and MHS were 51.88±7.04 and 49.29±6.60 among PLWH. Linear stepwise regression analysis shown that bonding social capital(Family members, relatives, friends and coworkers), total social capital, age, income, occupation and CD+cell had an important impact on their physical health. Bonding social capital(Family members, friends and coworkers), total social capital, age, marital status, educational level, income and occupation had an important impact on their mental health. Conclusion:The PLWH has low social capital and poor quality of life. Social capital had a positive impact to PLWH’s quality of life. This analysis shows that the more social capital the PLWH get, the better quality of life they have. The countermeasures of social care is organized and coordinated by the AIDS work staff from Center for Disease Control and Prevention, acquired the service team participated by PLWH, clinical medical staff and volunteers(community members, other social people and PLWH), family members, relatives, friends and coworkers to take care of PLWH. |
