Objective:To explore the relationship between quality of life and social capitalamong people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAS), analyze the effect of social capitalfor PLWHAS survival quality and provide the scientific basis for PLWHAS survivalquality.Method:Using the Medical Outcomes Study-HIV (MOS-HIV) evaluate the qualityof life of PLWHAS. Data on sociodemographic characteristics were also collected.This research has established the questionnaire of social capital on PLWHAS. Thesurvey was carried out for371PLWHAS. The questionnaires were accomplished byface to face. Epidata3.10was used to do the data input, and SPSS19.0was used todo the data analysis. One-way analysis and multiple linear regression analysis wereused for the results. Single factor t test, variance analysis and multiple linearregression model were used to analysis the results of the survey.Results:371PLWHAS were surveyed. Two summary scores of MOS-HIV, i.e.Mental Health Summary Scores(MHS), Physical Health Summary Scores(PHS) ofPLWHAS were46.60±10.45and51.14±9.28. The scores of social capital, trust, theability of access to resources and social participation were5.04±2.76,2.18±1.30,1.54±0.86and1.31±1.39respectively. The social capital(β=0.514,P=0.010),trust(β=1.207,P=0.004) and ability of access to resources(β=1.512,P=0.016) wereprotective factors associated with MHS. Social participation(β=0.257,P=0.364) wasnot associated with MHS.Conclusion:Social capital had a positive impact to PLWHAS’s mental survivalquality. Construct good social capital is important to improve the PLWHAS’s survivalquality.
