The Research On Folk Ancestral Hall Space Form And The Culture Of Architectural Decoration In Shanxi

The Ancestral Temple plays a significant role in the development of Chinese traditional culture and clan history,especially the Folk temple which is the foundation of the Ancestral Temple.It shows the culture of belief and clan to their ancestors with family as a basic unit.The Folk temple is also the sacrifice folk construction with the most magnificent decoration and elegant architectural form.Because of its large amount and distinct geographic features,there are historical and cultural information can be acquired from existing Folk temples which displays the relationship between kinship and ethic of Chinese nation,clan ideas and moral norms and architectural art.At the same time,the variability of community life and the aesthetic appeal in various styles of people at different times and places can be seen.Shanxi province is one of the birthplace of Chinese Civilization,it is known as the museum of Chinese traditional culture.Although some of the historic buildings in Shanxi especially the Folk temples were broken with the change of the time,the existing temples are still in a large amount.And with the increasing of people's awareness of the clan consciousness,the numbers of folk temples are growing.The subject researches the folk temples and the geographic background is based in Shanxi and works on the clan culture and architectural art of the folk temple in that region by a method that combines literature review and field research.Take hundreds of folk temples in Shanxi as specific cases,analyzing and summarizing the formation and development of folk temples under the influence of clan culture from four aspects,they are clan culture,the spatial morphology of temples,architectural form and architectural decorating art.Also,the preservation and inheritance of the traditional clan culture and the clan temple will be discussed from the perspective of sociology.It is expected to have a reference value for the clan temple restoring and facilitate the protection of local folk constructions.
