With the development of the construction market,the general contracting model of EPC which is current practice through internationally has been widely used in China.There are many uncertainties and risks with EPC model project,the general contractor bears greater risk comparing with other models.The design stage is the core stage of the EPC project,and the risk control of the design stage has the most important and direct impact on the whole project.Firstly,basing on the current statement of EPC project's risk from domestically and internationally,combining with the status of EPC project's risk in China,summarizing the risk factors of EPC project indesign stage for general contractors with the method of literature analysis,using the questionnaire survey to obtain important scores of each risk factor and the key factors were extracted,using expert interview method,finally got the risk assessment index system of EPC project design phase which includes 17 secondary indicators at three levels.Because of the complexity and uncertainty of the risk assessment index of EPC project design phase,in this paper,the AHP method is used to calculate the weight of all levels of indicators,fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used to construct a multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model,which is use to evaluate the risk grade of EPC project design stage.Finally,the validity of the model is verified by the examples and the corresponding countermeasures are proposed according to the evaluation results.
