Development of compulsory education relate to the fundamental of the people’s livelihood,rational distribution of educational resources in primary and secondary schools is the basic guarantee for the construction of fair public service facilities.At present,there are some main problems exist in China’s primary and secondary schools such as,small size,unreasonable layout,serious overload of relatively high quality school.Therefore,it is urgent to perfect the equalization of educational resources in primary and secondary schools,improve the land use efficiency of primary and secondary schools,promote the sharing of high quality resources among schools,this will improve the school running conditions,expand the scale and optimize the layout.This article take the Hohhot built up area primary and secondary schools as the research object,based on the analysis of the construction status and layout features,through the comparative analysis of spatial distribution of educational resources and GIS analysis,analysis of the existing problems and causes,to adjust and optimize the status of primary and secondary schools,put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions to optimize the layout.Based on the population forecast at the end of 2020 of the research area and relate norms to planning the number of primary and secondary schools.After the analysis,the conclusions of this article are as follows,(1)At present,there are 59 secondary schools and 95 primary schools in Hohhot built up area,and show the distribution characteristics of "central gathering and scattered around".(2)Accessibility of primary and secondary schools in urban district is high within the second ring road and low outside the second ring road.Primary and secondary school classes are generally too large.Primary school student-faculty ratios is low,land use of most schools are below the standard and have a seriousshortage of capacity,the situation of the secondary school on the contrary.3)the spatial layout of primary and secondary schools unreasonable.Such as the higher proportion of schools along the main road layout and does not match the distribution of residential land,educational resources in the street offices are not balanced,unreasonable allocation of high quality education resources.(4)predicted primary school should be increased 28 secondary schools should increase 9 at the end of 2020 in Hohhot built up area.
