The Artistic Features And Research Values Of Yangzhou Traditional Private Gardens

As an important part of the Chinese classic gardens,the private garden makes great contributions to the heritage and development of the Chinese garden cultures.Dating back to the 1700s,Yangzhou traditional private gardens have a long history.Due to their Classic gardening thought and theory and excellent gardening technique,Yangzhou traditional private gardens have a school of its own.However,with the decline of the economic status of Yangzhou,the development of its gardens is also greatly affected,which influences the reflection of the deserved value status of Yangzhou traditional private gardens.Meanwhile,garden workers nowadays usually focus their research on Suzhou.Besides,the relevant information and research of Yangzhou gardens only stay in the aspect of subjective description.What’s more,the research methods are too few and the analysis angle is always one-sided,which can’t give practical guidance to the protection and heritage of Yangzhou private gardens.Under the background of extensive historical and cultural heritage protection,the text begins from the artistic features and values,and makes deep researches into Yangzhou traditional private gardens from a new angel.The text aims to reveal the characteristics and value status of Yangzhou traditional private gardens,which can provide the reference to the protection of the gardens.At the beginning of the text,through reviewing the existing literature,the writer studies the development history of Yangzhou traditional private gardens and summarizes the important factors affecting the formation of the development and change.Then the writer takes the field reconnaissance of the four existing gardens——Geyuan Garden,Ho Family Garden,Xiao Pangu and Half-moon Garden.He also sorts out the historical overview of the gardens and analyses their respective landscape features in order to seek the general characteristics of Yangzhou traditional private gardens from the individual character of the gardens.At last,according to the studies mentioned above,the writer summarizes the characteristics of Yangzhou traditional private gardens from the garden factors such as building,fold mountain,water,plants and store.On the other hand,by means of studying cultural heritage value evaluation at home and abroad and combining with the characteristics of Yangzhou traditional private gardens,the writer adopts the expert consultation and analytic hierarchy process(ahp)to establish the Yangzhou value evaluation system and determines the evaluation factors and their weights.Afterwards,through establishing scoring criteria based on fuzzy theory and making comprehensive scores of four subjects by means of questionnaire,the writer obtains more scientific and accurate evaluation results.According to the grading results,Yangzhou private gardens integrated value from high to low in the order are——Ho Familiy Garden>Geyuan Garden>Xiao Pangu>Half-moon Garden.At last,through the analysis of quantitative data,the writer comes up with suggestions and strategies on the protection and inheritance of the traditional private gardens in Yangzhou.Hopefully,the study of this article can provide the reference to the evaluation research of Yangzhou gardens and other similar landscapes.Meanwhile,the writer also wants to raise the reflection of the workers who protect historical and cultural heritage to the protection of Yangzhou gardens.
