Analyses Of Changzhou Troditional Gardens

Garden of Yangtze Delta is the Chinese nation’s valuable treasure, including its gardening art and extraodinary conception, all these reflect the exquisite level of then gardening art. Changzhou traditional gardens have a long history with more than1300years, she is an important part of the Chinese Classical Gardens, and belongs to typical style of Garden of Yangtze Delta. However, most of historical data and research of Changzhou traditional gardens still stay on the basic level, such as existing data is fragmented, analysis point with single view and lack theoretical guidance,etc. In order to fill the gaps in the traditional gardens of Changzhou, enrich the content of the Chinese classical garden history of this part, highlight the local cultural features and better protection and use of the Changzhou traditional garden resources.this thesis made the following analysis:By collecting literature of the Changzhou traditional gardens and studying on the pots to the existing private gardens,we take Jin garden, Yi garden, Yue garden and Wei garden as the cases to study their gardening practice and ideas, dialectically summarize the commonality from the personality characteristics, further, to discuss the protection, restoration and use of the Changzhou traditional gardens. Firstly, the thesis begins with the overview of Changzhou, study of its landscape enviroment and culture; subsequently, conbined with the impace of natural, cultural and social factors to expound its formation and development; then conclude the form of Changzhou traditional garden; and adopt the methods of literature-collecting, field research and interview with garden owner descendant, to interprete the existing four gardens’history and current situation, and then, summarize the artistic features of Changzhou private gardening from the naming, spatial pattern, rocks, water, architecture and the plants, etc. Finally, in order to better protect and excavate the traditional gardens resources in Changzhou, we should follow the protection principles of authenticity, readability, systemicness and sustainability on the base of present situation, and bring the protection and utilization to the city’s construction and development, make the protection and use complementary and mutually reinforcing, allowing the urban cultural heritage to last and excavation.At last, through the above reseach, the author hopes to provide reference for urban construction, at the same time, leads to the thinking of the protection, restoration and use to Changzhou troditional gardens and other siminar gardens.
