Environmental Design Of Urban Waterfront Sports Park

The urban waterfront sport park is an integration of physical and spiritual civilizations, which indicates the living standard of urban citizens. In recent years, with the quick urbanization speed, people have paid much attention to health issues, and there is an increasing demand for high-quality sport fields. The urban waterfront sport park brings the property of “return to the nature” into the public sport facilities, which will satisfy the demand of high quality of life. The development of urban waterfront open space public service functions also complies with the requirement of the times.The study of this paper is based on the logic of “problem introduction- theory and case study- characteristic analysis- solution raised- practical applications” and theories of environmental behavior psychology, ergonomics, etc. The characteristics of urban waterfront open space and sport park are analyzed and the common features are summarized. Meanwhile, the design approaches of urban waterfront sport park is discussed. This paper seeks to blend sport park into waterfront environment, and to improve the physical and mental experiences of users in the high-quality urban waterfront environment.The contents are organized as follows. The first part is introduction in which the background, trends of literature research are summarized, and relevant theories and concepts are defined. The second part is the summary of relevant research status in which three practical sport parks are analyzed, and four worth-learning design strategies are summarized. The third part is the most important part of this paper. In this part, the characteristics of urban waterfront sport park are analyzed, the defects of urban waterfront open space and sport park are summarized. In this part, the author tries to combine the urban waterfront open space and sport park. In the fourth part, five design principles and five design approaches of urban waterfront sport park are summarized. Last, take the urban sports park by the shore of Yangchu lake in Wuhan as an example, I demonstrate the practical results of my design of the urban sports park.I hope that the study and the discussion of designing urban sports park in waterfronts has a certain reference and guidance for future construction projects and attract more people to design urban sports parks in waterfronts.
