The number of dog owners has been increasing year by year in the development of our society.Compared with the trend of dog park construction around the world since the 1970s and 1980s,there have been only a few parks open to dogs formally in China up to now.Meanwhile, some uncivilized dog walking behavior in the city does have some adverse effects on the open space. As a result, such problems trigger a lot of contradictions between the owner group and the non-owner group. All the time, the domestic study on the dog park mostly pay attention to just the design of one type of dog parks, such as the residential park dog-walking area. But,there is less work to comb the whole concept system, and the discussion about the dog park design is relatively ambiguous and simple. This paper takes the dog park as the research object.Firstly, according to the domestic and foreign documents and field research, the paper analyzes the construction practice of the dog parks from all around the world, and probes into the social environment conditions and the key points in the construction of the park by using the method of multidisciplinary comprehensive research.Secondly, combined with the different psychological and behavioral needs of dog park service objects and the related theory and knowledge, the interactive relationship between the two service objects, this paper studies on the design strategy of dog park.Thirdly, through further analysis, the paper discusses the design methods of different levels of dog park, and expounds the positive influence of dog park construction on urban public space. Finally, this paper gives some suggestions on the construction of pet dog's activity space in cities in China.
