With the rapid development of urban planning and construction,the construction of urban waterfront space is conducted at the same time.But many problems are followed by the development.At present,although there are many construction projects in domestic waterfront parks,the quality of their design is uneven.In the pursuit of economic,social and environmental benefits,whether the construction of waterfront park follows the internal development law of urban space,whether the completed waterfront park follows and insists the original intention of planning and design,all of which are worthy of further study.In the presented paper,the scientific theory and method of spatial syntax was employed to study the space of the waterfront park in the core section of Hunhe River based on the above backgroud.The research process and main results are as follows:(1)The spatial characteristics and evaluation criteria of waterfront park were summarized through the current situation investigation and theoretical research,and five syntactic indicators suitable for spatial analysis of waterfront park are selected,that is,integration,efficiency,mean depth,synergy and intelligibility.Then,syntactic analysis of the overall space of the core section of Hunhe River was carried out by employing the axis model of spatial syntax.It can be concluded that the waterfront space in the core section of Hunhe River is not closely related to the surrounding urban space,the overall accessibility of the waterfront area is poor,and the connection between the local and the overall space is not close.(2)Five indexes of seven waterfront parks in the core section of Hunhe River were compared.The accessibility,attraction,hierarchy,connectivity and identifiability of each park were analyzed.Moreover,five indexes of each park were analyzed vertically.According to the ranking results,the best spatial quality of the seven waterfront parks in the core section of Hunhe River is Changbai Island Forest Park,and the worst spatial quality is Luoshijuan Ecological Park.Furthermore,the accessibility of the node space in each park and the overall hydrophilicity of the park were analyzed in combination of the results of visual-region model and axis model.It was concluded that the accessibility of each Waterfront Park node space is quite different and the hydrophilicity is generally high.(3)According to the analysis results,the existing problems of the waterfront park space in the core section of Hunhe River were summarized.The problems include the following: the accessibility of the waterfront area in the core section of Hunhe River is low,weak interaction between waterfront spaces on both sides,lack of spatial continuity between various waterfront parks,and poor organization of the park road system of waterfront parks.Moreover,in view of the raised problems,some suggestions were put forward.The suggestions include the following: improving the external traffic system of waterfront space,reasonably setting the entrance and exit positions of waterfront park,making full use of the space under the bridge of river crossing bridge,and improving the internal road of waterfront park.
