The most important source of human perception of architectural space and form is visual; and then people complete the cognitive process and generate corresponding psychological feelings. Exclude specific cultural and individual differences, space and architectural field have the consistent effect on the psychological feelings. Concerning this subject, numbers can describe the size, shape and angle of space, but can not answer how the space exists and how it influences specifically for people. It is difficult to quantify the psychological feelings expressed, which is the reason why people attribute the space is and the means of modeling to arts causes. The logic beginning of this paper is the attempt to explaining art issues in mathematical way, in order to turn the architecture space theory into a more scientific and systematic direction. This thesis, using "smallest unit" as a clue to review the theories about space-related prototype, summarizes the positive implications of these theories on the detailed analysis and notes that the current types of design theory in the space quantization research still in its infancy.Contents of this thesis are divided into three parts: The first part is the fabric of space itself. It starts with Gestalt psychology and visual cognition principles and then explains the concept of prototype space research and to define the scope, in order to analyze complex spatial fabric principle as the basic unit to seek a relatively objective spatial analysis and assessment methods. The second part is the relationship between space and what is beyond space. Based on the visual image and visual compensation principles, combined with SD method attempts to explore the architectural form of psychological feelings of field strength calculation methods, and empirical methods to provide this new reference design practice. The third part is a combination of the above principles, emphasizing that the spatial richness evaluation and measurement research, quantitative research and prospects for achieving design automation may play an important role in the future. Finally, this paper also summarizes the problems of the present study, such as quantitative accuracy, the survey sample limitations and the limitations of psychological experiments and so on.
