People's acknowledge to the outside world mostly depends on the obtainment of information through sensory organ.Over 90% information is obtained by eyes,through which the architecture art mainly brings people different experience and feelings.In this paper,the conception of field in physics is adapted to architecture research,and the architecture field is defined as both the physics and psychological impact of people from architecture,from which it can be concluded that architecture visual field is the impact of people's visual perception from architecture.Professor Xiong Ming has proposed a theory of computing visual field among buildings,promoting the research of space quantization,but there are still some limitations that,for instance,the computing model is limited to computing building general shape without considering any details of the building.The research goes further in this paper where Guobai in traditional Chinese architectures is set as an example to study how architecture scale influences visual percepton.Started the research from the progress of visual perception,this paper is aimed to distribute a computing model simulating the process of visual perception by using the method of computing visual salience map in computer graphic calculation field.The impact of building space,especially the fa?ade of building,to human's visual experience is studied with single variable quantity,the shape of structures,by photograph research and simulating calculation with the example of Guobai.Human's visual perception can be divided into two parts,the reception and analysis of graphic.This process is called visual cognition during which the visual consciousness comes into being.The progress of analyzing visual signals,which the computing model used in this paper simplifies and simulates,is the step of composing different feelings.The computing model is based on the classic Itti computing model,while in this paper only shape is considered and other variable quantities are removed.In this way,the salience maps is calculated and used for further analyses,so that the relationship between stadia and saliency of different scale of structure.The paper mainly uses Hypothetico-deductive-method to improve the description about Guobai in traditional Chinese architecture theory system by quantitate ways.Guanyinge of Dule Temple is chosen as an example for calculation,by analyzing whose results the discipline of Guobai in architecture field.Referring to the description of Guobai in ancient Chinese books,the hypothesis of the relationship between focus of attention and pop-out time and viewpoint after calculating salience maps and analyses.Then further research and experiment is take to improve the hypothesis in quantitate ways.The method can still be used in modern architecture,renewing historical blocks,and so on,considering it is in common use,which provides reference in creating traditional Chinese space with modern architecture language.
