The Research Of Revitalization Strategy On Qingdao Zhongshan Road Historical District

Historical district present a city’s overall image with a sense of place.It concentrates the connotation of a city and on behalf of the heritage of a city.In recent years,the speed of urban renewal brings all sorts of problems and contradictions to historic district and how to strike a balance between economic development and the revival of the historic district,to explore a model for the revival of the historic district’s geographical characteristics is an urgent task that we can’t avoid.Zhongshan Road Historic District was the main commercial street in Qingdao but people did not expect the loss of district vitality.Although in the past few years it has also been a number of renovation remediation,but district business depression,lack of vigor has not been improved,and even the whole district’s historic look are declining.The reason is people tend to value short-term interests and avoid the complex contradictions in the old city in renewal and reconstruction of Zhongshan Road historical block.Only few individual plots have been adjusted such as the construction of expressway,demolition of small neighborhood,implantation of large scale business,etc in previous planning.However,these have not solved the fundamental problem of Zhongshan Road’s decline.If things go on like this,the streets depressed situation not be improved then original historical context may even be destroyed.The article chooses Qingdao Zhongshan Road Historic District as the research object.First,organize related concepts,theoretical basis and draws on experience at home and abroad historical block renewal.Article concluded that the problems and the value of material characteristic spatial form and social and human existence by conducting detailed field survey to the history of Zhongshan Road,features and status of the early construction and analysis the type of decline and underlying causes from a professional point of view.Finally,using integration of urban design ideas and means to propose revival recommendations from eight areas for Qingdao Zhongshan Road historic district: seek the overall development of the region;adjusting the mixing function of blocks;strengthening pedestrian network and public transport road construction to ease the pressure;reconstruction neighborhood public space and political landscape renovation;district buildings classification conservation and reuse update;improve tourist facilities and system;policy support and award on urban design;enhance public participation and cooperation.This article attempts to offer reference ideas for the future revival of Zhongshan Road historic district and provide some reference for existing historical district with colonial features to revival.
