With the steady growth of economic development and significantly increasing of urban population density, a demand of residential buildings has been growing rapidly in cities. However, at the same time, the problem of obsolete buildings is becoming more and more serious. Dalian city is located in the cold region in northern China, the long winter is dry and cold. In the extreme condition of cold winter, the outdoor air temperature difference between day and night could be as high as 35 ℃. It must take some heating approaches and insulation measures to ensure the indoor temperature of residential buildings. In summer, indoor air temperature of the residential buildings are comfortable in Dalian city. But in august, the climate is extremely hot, the good thermal performance of the architectures is also very necessary. Therefore, taking energy conservation transformation on existing residential buildings, which is also named warming houses engineering is imperative. In order to study the energy conservation transformation of existing residential buildings impact on the indoor thermal environment, the following research about the warming houses engineering in Dalian has been taken out.First of all, the problems of the existing residential buildings in Dalian have been investigated. Besides, the negative effect of obsolete buildings influence on the human health and living environment has been summarized, and the practical application problems of the existing buildings have been analyzed. Secondly, in the case of the poor thermal performance of the building envelopes, insulation layers have been added on the outside wall. The technical key points and needing attentive matters of heating energy-saving transformation engineering has been given. Thirdly, through analyzing on a field investigations and energy consumptions, the indoor living environments of the residential buildings before and after modification of existing buildings have been analyzed. Finally, the indoor environment could be effectively improved, and the building energy consumption could be reduced through energy saving approaches.According to the above discussions, on the one hand, the research results could be taken as the basis for making policies and implementations of energy conservation transformation of existing buildings. On the other hand, the corresponding design strategy for residential buildings could be given in the future.
