The Application Research On Volunteered Geographic Information In Digital City Management

With the frontier technology development,such as Wireless Communication and Software and Hardware of mobile devices,digital city information management platform has become an important part of the construction of the digital cities.With the present of volunteered geographic information,the general publics become not only users,but also producers of geographic information at the same time.The participation of the general public provides rich data basis for building a real-time,sophisticated,efficient information management platform.The study discusses the concepts of digital city management and volunteered geographic information,aiming to apply the latter into the former to form the volunteered digital city management with the participation of the public.The paper uses mobile GIS,Android development,database,mobile communication and location technology to develop volunteered geographic information system.With mobile phone used as a kind of geographical information collection devices,publics can inquiry,collect,upload,share the city information.In this way,publics thus can participate the data revision in the digital city management,provide more real time,abundant data to improve the slow status of digital city management construction.The main research results are as follows:(1)Research and analyze the volunteered geographic information system,determine the system structure and basic framework with the hierarchical technology,divide the system into four modules: data query,data collection,real-time communication,software update.(2)Use SQLite and Oracle databases,respectively,in the mobile client and server to store the collected volunteered geographic information,use Geodatabase manage the spatial information extracted from volunteered geographic information,associate the Oracle database with Geodatabase database by ArcSDE.(3)Based on the Android platform,the volunteered geographic information system is developed in Eclipse plus ADT development environment by the Java language,using the SDK Android development kit and Baidu map API interface,which makes people and mobile as the information sensor to realize the collection of cityinformation in real time and real filed.(4)Based a geo-spatial framework,classify,process,store and publish the volunteered geographic information to verify its application in digital city management and achieve the “Create-Share-Browse” process.
