Located on the eastern coastal areas of China,Shandong Province is one important province with typical warm monsoon climate, which is beneficial to the abundant resources of mosses.Bryaceae plants account for roughly 1/10 of all kinds of bryophytes in Shandong, undoubtedly, which is an important part of flora in Shandong Province. As a result, the study on Bryaceae plays an important role in the research of Bryophyte of Shandong, and provides new data for Chinese Bryaceae plants research. The object of this research is about 3200 copies of Bryaceae mosses specimens from Shandong Province collected by the team of Zun-tian Zhao, deposited in the herbarium of Shandong Normal University(SDNU).While, some related specimens from PE,IFSBH and SDAU are examined.Based on the identification of Bryaceae specimens,53 species,8 genera of Bryaceae in Shandong Province are reported, among them,2 genera,Epipterygium Lindb.,Plagiobryum Lindb.,and 22 species are reported from Shandong Province for the first time. The specimens which were reported before are checked. The specimens which were identified as Rhodobryum roseum(Hedw.)Limpr.should be Rh.ontariense(Kindb.)Paris,and Pohlia wahlenbergii(F.Weber & D.Mohr)A.L.is doubted because of the lost of original sample. The newest checklist of Bryaceae in Shandong Province is obtained, and the floristic composition of bryophytes in this area is enriched. What's more, the study revises FLORA BRYOPHYTORUM SHANDONGICORUM,and plays an important role in BRYOPHYTE FLORA OF SHANDONG.The species distribution situations affected by habitats, elevation and so on are analyzed.Furthermore, the species composition based on the specimens collected before and after 2000 are compared. The results of this study are as following:(1)The most common habitat type is on soil, while rare on tree trunks.(2)With the altitude increasing, the kinds of species of Bryaceae increase firstly and then decrease.(3)A large amount of Bryaceae species can be found in low hilly areas of eastern Shandong Province and hilly areas of central-south Shandong Province, while little in plain areas of northwest Shandong Province.(4)There are 9 species, which were only collected before 2000,and four after 2000.The study refers to Phytogeography of Hong Kong bryophytes(Li Zhang & Richard T.Corlett,2003)when analyses flora.According to the division,Bryaceae in Shandong Province can be divided into 10 parts, and Temperate accounts for 49.05%,which is consistent with the geographical position of Shandong Province. This study compares the species richness of Bryaceae among four mountains: Kunyu Mountain,Mount Lao,Mount Tai and Mount Meng. The result shows that Mount Lao shares the highest species richness, followed by Kunyu Mountain. This may be related to the mountain location, altitude, climatic conditions and human disturbance and other factors. This study also compares the species richness of Bryaceae of Shandong Province with Inner Mongolia,Hebei Province,Anhui Province,Jiangsu Province,Zhejiang Province and Japan. The result shows that: Shandong Province shares the highest similarity in genus with Japan, followed by Hebei Province, while shares lower similarity with Anhui Province,Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province;Shandong Province shares the highest similarity in species with Hebei Province, followed by Anhui Province and Jiangsu Province, while shares the lowest similarity with Japan. This result is consistent with the regionalization of the bryophytes in China divided by WU Peng-cheng.
