Study On The Classification And Evaluation Of Geological Relics In Shandong Province

Classification and evaluation of geological relics is the basic works of geological relics protection and geo-park construction.At present,classification schemes of geological relics have different extents of problems at home and abroad,such as standards disunion,types overlap or missing and contrary to the concept of geological relics,etc.Geological relics have such three intrinsic properties as scientific value,science popularization value and tourism economic value.Therefore,a correct evaluation of geological relics must be an objective and comprehensive one including the three properties mentioned above,neither mixing up nor laying particular stress on any one of them.Nowadays,the available evaluation methods used to mix the three properties together and then draw a conclusion on the scientific value of the geological relics.It means both tourism economic value including ornamental and traffic conditions,and science popularization value including universality,enjoyment and popularity,are attributed to the scientific value property,which is apparently not appropriate.These problems in classification and evaluation have a strong impact on the investigation,effective protection,reasonable development and sustainable utilization of geological relics.Therefore,a series of classification and evaluation system of scientific,reasonable,complete,orderly,and operating simply is a strong prospect of the researchers and an important task of protection and development of the geological relics.In this paper,both the reasonable classification principle and standard of geological relics are put forward,through the study of the intrinsic properties and existed classified evaluation methods.According to the appearance and formation types,a scientific classification system of geological relics is set up.The geological relics can be divided into 6 big categories,23 categories,and 46 sub-category.This classification is clear,without any overlapping.On the basis of properties of geological relics,evaluation factors and evaluation standards are proposed.Furthermore,27 assessment types and codes are built in the tri-axial system,which make the assessment result scientific,comprehensive and accurate.So,the comparability and mapping function are enhanced significantly.Based on the new classification and evaluation system,the important geological relics are classified and evaluated in Shandong Province,which providing foundations of provincial geological relics protection,geological knowledge popularization,geopark construction and local economic development.Furthermore,it also provides references to the improvements of geological relics classification and evaluation system in China.
