Pottiaceae is the largest familiy of mosses in Shandong Province. It is widely distributed in temperate regions. Because of the diversity of habitat, the morphological types of Pottiaceae change large. Special geographical location and climate, Shandong Province has rich resources of Pottiaceae.5500 specimens studied were collected by our lab from all over Shandong Province, while some specimens in other 3 herbaria(PE,IFSBH, SDAU) have been examined. Base on the identification of specimens, 79 species, 3 varieties and 24 genera are found. Among them, Weissia muhlenbergiana(Swartz) W. D. Reese & B.A. E. Lemmon is found from China for the first time, while 3 genera, Chenia R. H.Zander, Gymnostomiella M. Fleisch. And Tuerckheimia Broth., 28 species are reported from Shandong Province for the first time, while 2 species,Pottia truncata(Hedw.) Bruch & Schimp. and Tortula pagorum(Mild.) De Not. are doubtful. At the same time, the species composition based on the specimens collected before and after 2000 are compared, it is found that the difference is obvious, and the reasons are discussed.According to the distribution types of Bryophytes made by Zhang li & Richard T.Corlett, Temperate(42.68%), Eastern Asian(15.85%), Chinese Endemic(9.75%),Tropical(8.54%), the result coincides with the location of Shandong Province.Four mountains in Shandong Province(Mount Kunyu, Mount Lao,Mount Tai,Mount Meng) are selected to make a comparison on the species richness of Pottiaceae. The sequence is Mount Kunyu, Mount Tai, Mount Lao and Mount Meng. Shows that the richness is influenced by the special location. Factors such as climate, elevation and so on play an important part in the survival of Pottiaceae.Pottiaceae flora of 6 regions are selected to compare with Shandong Province's.It is found that the similarity coefficient of genus between Pottiaceae flora of Shandong Province and others is very high, while the similarity coefficient of species is also higher, which between Shandong Province's and Anhui Province's is highest(61.07%) and between Shandong Province's and Shanxi Province's is lowest(46.06%).
