The Export Potential Research On China’s Environmental Products

As an important way for the economic and social sustainable development, environmental commodities have received a great deal of attention recently. China is one of the largest countries for trading environmental commodities. In 2014 the total value of environmental commodities traded was $189.41 billion, accounting for 4.40% of China’s total import and export trade value, but different forms of trade barriers remains a serious obstacle to realizing the full potential of environmental goods trade. The newly proposed "One Belt And One Road" strategy and multilateral trade liberalization talks will provide opportunities for our trade and economy, thus analyzing the current trade status of environmental goods trade to fully release the potential of environmental goods export is very necessary.In this dissertation, a research has been made on the export potential of China’s environmental products based on the data of 54 environmental goods covering 41 countries/regions from 2004 to 2013. Basing on the analysis of influencing factors, a stochastic frontier model of gravity is established to estimate export potential of China’s environmental goods. Research shows that during the last ten years, the export of China’s environmental goods was more efficient than the export of China’s total goods; the export trade efficiency of China’s environmental goods continued to reduce while the export trade potential increased. The export efficiency of China’s environmental products to Europe’s smaller countries is highest, followed by Asia Development countries, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Britain, France and other developed countries had lower efficiency. From the prospect of environmental products categories, the export potential of environmental monitoring and analysis products is the highest, the export potential of air pollution management products is lower, and the export potential of water treatment products is the lowest. In order to fully release the potential of environmental goods trade, China government should vigorously support the development of domestic industries, constantly optimize the layout of environmental goods exports, actively promote environmental goods trade liberalization talks, Vigorously encourage the export of environmental monitoring and analysis products; Relevant enterprises should enhance the technology of environmental product, vigorously promote clean production and Implement different strategy according to different regions.
