Research On Export Trade Potential And Trade Efficiency Of China’s Vegetables

China is the world’s largest producer of vegetables and the world’s largest exporter of vegetables.At present,vegetable is China’s second largest export agricultural products category,vegetable industry has grown into an agricultural pillar industry.Expanding vegetable export will not only increase farmers’ income,expand rural employment and improve agricultural competitiveness,but also help develop the rural economy and realize rural revitalization at an early date.Against the background of the rising tide of anti-globalization,China’s vegetable export also faces a series of extremely severe challenges.In 2018,China’s vegetable exports fell for the first time in years.Therefore,it is urgent to understand the current export efficiency of Chinese vegetables and explore the future growth point of Chinese vegetables.Firstly,this paper makes a detailed analysis,induction and summary of the trade basic theory and trade potential literature.Then,the quantity,types and international competitiveness of vegetables exported from China are analyzed.Finally,based on the vegetable trade data of the top 30 countries and regions of China’s vegetable export from2001 to 2018 in 2018,the stochastic frontier gravity model was used to calculate the potential and efficiency of vegetable export between China and these 30 countries and regions.The empirical analysis results show that the GDP,population size and vegetable yield per unit area of a country（region） have a significant positive impact on vegetable export,and the GDP and vegetable yield per unit area of the importing country（region） also have a significant positive impact on vegetable export,while the distance between the two countries（regions） in vegetable trade has an obvious inhibitory effect.Frontier4.1 showed that among the top 30 countries（regions）,China’s vegetable export trade efficiency was the highest in Japan(0.9).Secondly,Vietnam,Russia,Thailand and other trade efficiency also exceeded 0.8.But half of the partners in the top 30 still trade less than 0.5 per cent.According to the trade potential measurement,it is found that South Korea has the largest potential to expand trade in the future,reaching 784.1 million us dollars.Second,China’s Hong Kong,the United States,Malaysia and Vietnam all have more than $5 million of trade space.This shows that although China’s vegetable exports are mainly concentrated in Asia,there is still a large trade potential in Asia.At the same time,although the United States is far away from China,it is still a large market for China’s vegetable exports in the future,the main target..
