The developed countries including Europe and USA are in downturn nowadays which leads to a lower demand. In addition, Chinese economy is also slowing down with lower growth rate. Thus it becomes critical for traditional manufacturer to decrease the cost, raise the on-time rate against production plan/delivery and improve the service level while assuring the product quality at same time.This thesis illustrates the development trend and different management modes of production plan and material control (PMC below). Based on the situation of G company as an analysis example, it also makes the fundamental study on how to improve PMC for this company. The investigation mainly includes:It states the development trend of PMC, the popularly applied PMC management modes and explains how they were created, developed. The comparisons between the different management modes are also done for better understanding the application of those modes for different types of companies.It introduces the people, structure, products, sales of G company; the responsibility, structure and operation mode of its PMC department; the existing problems in PMC. Those problems mainly includes that European stock change wasn’t identified in time, serious shortage in the capacity of bin liner wasn’t analyzed efficiently, the material failed to match weekly plan, the low on-time rate for weekly plan, repetition of BOM, wrong ERP data, lacking of shortage material query function and daily plan, the quantity difference between customs and company’s internal database, lacking of enough stock space for finished goods and the weak stock control for materials,.The improved proposals are proposed for every problem in PMC. Two theoretic methods are applied including MRP and Lean Production which can be summarized as follows:firstly, supervise the material requirements from European headquarter closely as well as the accuracy of MRP data from G company, extra Excel table is used for the function shortage in ERP such as "material shortage table", "daily plan", "balance sheet for export products and import material". Secondly, some tools in lean production are adopted to lower the stock and raise the producing efficiency such as "vendor management inventory", "supermarket in workshop" and "milk run".The improved proposals are validated to be efficient in "influence rate in material" and "on-time rate of delivery" by comparing the data between 2014 and 2015. In addition, the further improvement plan is also brought forward. the future of PMC in development frame of supply chain and the design in PMC of inter-enterprise are also explained at the end of this thesis.
