Competition in the construction market has become increasingly intense.So many companies who have been in the form of projects to accomplish organizational activities are in order to enhance their competitiveness. The manager as a project leader is the most important project resources. Their ability level of project performance has a significant impact and great significance for improving the company’s core competitiveness. Research on competency is one of the hot spots of contemporary psychology, human resource management, education and other disciplines. Competency model can help that the construction companies get better work in terms of job analysis, personnel selection, training, career planning and enhance the competitive advantage in construction industry.AEPC Company is a construction company. In recent years, with the development of volume of business, team construction of the project managers has become the restricted factors of the key follow-up development company. We study the project manager competency structure of AEPC Company to build project manager competency model and lay the foundation for the company’s human resource development.This paper to the turbine company project management present situation, its exist in the project management:extreme shortage of project funds operation mode confusion, project managers, the unity cooperation ability is not strong, the comprehensive quality is generally low, relatively extensive project management, cost is big, small profits and large, high accident rate of potential safety concerns. Analysis the company project manager competency problems, mainly including:the project manager for project manager competency condition to get your certificate number is less, the project manager comprehensive ability quality is poorer, lack of experience in project, cost control become a big problem, for the company culture and strategy is not high, esteemed company lack of sense of belonging and talent as a whole education level is low, etc. Lead to the cause of the problem are mainly:the lack of supporting the position of project manager competency model, the selection mechanism is unreasonable, did not establish training mechanism and the lack of effective performance appraisal standards and incentives, points out the necessity of building in turbine company project manager competency model.Second, using literature analysis, analysis of the position of project manager and behavioral event interview method to extract the project manager competence characteristics, constructs the project manager competency model assumptions. For further analysis and validation of hypothesis model, through the questionnaire method, and using SPSS factor analysis, reliability analysis and validity analysis, finally it is concluded that the project manager competency model in turbine company. The model by the personal qualities, professional skills, management ability, interpersonal relationship processing, market awareness, knowledge, skills, 29 six dimensions of competence characteristics. Based on the turbine company project manager competency model, develop project manager selection, training, performance appraisal of application solutions. For the enterprise to select and cultivate excellent talents to provide guidance, play to the role of the realistic, make the future development of the construction enterprise to provide talent guarantee.
