The Application Study Of Feasibility Assessment Techonology For New Project Introduction In Electronics Manufacting Service Company

In the 21 st century, electronics manufacturing service industries have rapid development. No matter it is the company’s own requirements or driven by customer, EMS companies are forced to change the traditional production management to modern project management. Especially after the financial crisis, electronics manufacturing industries step into the era of meager profit. Enterprises have to face to increasingly cost pressure. On the other hand, EMS companies extend its service like supply chain management, logistic management and even produce design service besides the traditional manufacturing service. With these changes, introduction of more new projects accompany with high risks. Industry leader, Flextronics owns factories all around the world. The big scale of the ship also brings lot of problems such as lack of standard project management method, unbalance of resource, poor communication and so on. In one word, there is no systematic project evaluation standard which result in the poor performance of new project cannot meet the expectation of management team. The cost loses of failed project increase burden of enterprise. Company cannot move forward. So to build a feasibility assessment model which is used for new project introduction is greatly significant for Flextronics.EMS company is consist of a series of projects. Every successful new project will benefit the company. Conversely, the failed project will result in financial loss and harm the company. So EMS company will focus on the whole new project introduction process from of defining until executing and delivering stage to assure the success of project. This thesis based on the features of EMS company project, with the summary of failed projects and through the study of project management, especially the project lift cycle model and three-dimensional perspective, PBS, WBS and OBS of project, here find out the way to leverage and combine the two theories into project management. Assess the feasibility of new project in time, hierarchy, importance three aspects. This system is used to improve the success rate of new project introduction and is it different with the normal project. The feasibility assessment will be launching on the whole project life cycle. Moreover, this thesis proposes a specific, implementable, phased project feasibility assessment plan after study and optimization.
