A Study Of Applying Project Quality Management To Perform Lean Production

Market competition force companies to meet more variety and small batch order fast, high-quality and low-cost. The traditional mass manufacture can not meet such market demands. Lean production, originated in the Toyota, is an admitted way to meet the demands. Project management is objective focus strongly. Using project management systems, methods and tools, a company can handle the three constraints---time, cost and quality, and complete project tasks efficiently. These features of project management are suitable for lean production improvement projects. Lean production improvement project is most concerned about the results of improvement, keeping and promoting the improvement. Project quality management, defined in the generalized concept of quality, "addresses the management of the project and the product of the project", lean production improvement projects’quality management can play a greater role, therefore.In this paper, the author conclude the theories of lean production and project quality management, study the QHC’s Multi-deck cabinet production process, and research how to perform lean production better leading by project quality management. This research was the advance preparation for the QHC to carry out the lean production improvement project later.The first, the author study QHC’s actual data by using value stream mapping to determine improvement objectives, to identify the focuses and difficulties of the improvement and to plan improvement leading by project quality management.The second, the author look for the corresponding solution for the difficulties using the process analysis, required by project quality assurance, to support project quality assurance. The author researched the three major difficulties:to improve the quality of powder coating process by using the Shainin DOE methods, to balance the assembly line by using network diagram to meet the constraints including the Takt time and the station number, and to optimize sheet process by building logistics moment minimization model)。finally, the author study the quality control of the project initiating process group and project planning process group to present the project quality control scheme for these two project process group:to evaluate the feasibility of the project by building the feasibility model in the project Initiating process group and evaluate the project plan by building review list, using AHP to determine the index weight and applying fuzzy evaluation method to evaluate the project plan.The innovations of this paper include:The first, the author study QHC’s Multi-deck cabinet production process by using value stream mapping to determine improvement objectives, to identify the focuses and difficulties of the improvement.The second, the author study the lean production project and find out the pointed measures to the difficulties of the project, leading by project quality management and applying project quality plan, project quality assurance and project quality control.This research is the advance preparation for the QHC to carry out the lean production improvement project later.
