Agriculture is the foundation of national economy. The agriculture of America isthe most developed in the world nowadays, the product of which has a great varietyand high yield. Furthermore America is the largest exporter of agricultural products.The key to the success of American agriculture is that in addition to its uniqueagricultural resources, but relevant to the agricultural organization structure andoperation mechanism which formed by more than100years of historical evolutionand fierce market competition. While the family farm as the American agricultureimportant business organization form, has made tremendous contribution to thedevelopment of agriculture in the United States, which has become a leading power ofglobal food production and export.The rapid development of Chinese agriculture has made remarkableachievements in thirty years of reform and opening up. With the development of ruralproductivity, the current agricultural production and operation mode has beengradually unable to meet the needs of modernization and internationalization of thedevelopment of agriculture. It is necessary to further explore for the system ofChinese agricultural enterprise which fits for the development of modern agriculture.This paper offers some suggestions to the development of agriculture in Chinathrough the research and analysis on the development and problems of Americanfamily farm business, by summing up the successful experience of the development ofagriculture, and for our country’s rural reality.This paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part, introduces the background andsignificance of the research, literature review and framework of the thesis.The second chapter is the general analysis of American family farms, introducingthe basic concept of family farm respectively from three aspects of concept,classification and history and current situation of the development to readers in brief. The family farm is an important business organization form of agriculture in America.We could understand the American family farm more clearly through the analysis ofthe history and current situation of development.The third chapter is the form of organization, management mode andcharacteristics of the American family farm. This chapter introduces the classification,management form and developing trend of family farms, expounds the technology,mechanization, commercialization of agricultural products and the environmentalresource protection respectively.The fourth chapter is the favorable conditions to promote the development ofAmerican family farm. The vast land and fertile soil is the most basic conditions forthe development of American family farm. American land and agricultural policy hasplayed a decisive role in the development of family farms. At the same time, thedevelopment of American agriculture has the close relation with the highlymodernized development. Various social service system emerged play an importantrole to promote the family farms.The fifth chapter is the analysis of the family farm business performance.American agriculture is highly developed, and has an important position whether it isin the national economy or the world. In the process of development history ofAmerican family farm for200years, the American farm family average income levelof the national family has far below the average American farm family, suggestingthat the contribution of American family farm to the whole agriculture and the overallnational economic. Not only did it increased agricultural production and the incomeof farmers, but promote the development of related industries. Problems and the trendof development of American family farm, the financial pressure in the developmentprocess,the ageing and women of managers and the instability of market etc havebeen discussed in the fifth chapter. This chapter also briefly analyzes the inevitabletrend of development of family farm.The problem of the family farm development between China and America arecompared and analyzed in the sixth chapter, and introduced the problems of Chinesefamily farms that need to be solved immediately. By analyzing the financial policy, the land policy, the social service system and the overall level of education of farmersof our country, I have drew some conclusions. Firstly the reform of land system andthe development of the scale of operation are what we need; Secondly to reform theinnovation of agricultural economic organization, to improve the organization’sproduction efficiency; Thirdly we must fully take care of farmer’s main body statusand the development of agricultural cooperation economic organization. At the sametime, to strengthen the education of peasants, to develop farmers of outstanding abilityas the guarantee and support conditions. What more to change the functions of thegovernment effectively and strengthen the service function of the government todeepen.
