Six Sigma was originated in Motorola. Motorola has made remarkable performance from1987to1997decade, when Six Sigma management was implemented. The Six Sigma management in the GE (General Electric) were almost crazy to implement and has made extensive and significant performance improvement results in late1995. Since then, many well-known large companies of the world have started to learn, study and implement Six Sigma management. It’s forming a trend.BG company digested and carried out its innovation and invention after the Six Sigma was introduced. Meanwhile, BG company was combined with Toyota’s use of Lean. It’s become the BG’s principal means to solve the practical problems of production, improve the environment of the scene and improve performance."Eleventh Five-Year" project put into operation in succession at cold-rolled sheet plant on the fourth quarter of2007. The coated product production capacity will be increased from14million ton/year up to60million ton/year in2008. While the corresponding tin plating (chrome) Shears significant increase in volume will be increased from5million ton/year up to8million mt/year. Shearing machine-hour capacity become the top priority. The project will find and solve the impact of increasing shear knife speed issues, and should be cut while maintaining quality and stability. Effectively improving the overall production capacity of shearing machine.In this paper, we use the six sigma idea and management method to solve the question which we increase the shear knife speed. The main contents include:(1)Research actuality production data of1220shear unit, collect data and clear the problems.(2) According to the implementation steps of six sigma to analyze the problem and make for improvement and implement.(3) Evaluate the result of improvement and root improvement measures.Through this project researching, the use of Six Sigma thinking and management methods,1220units of shear velocity is increased from the previous74knife blade/ min up to120knife/min. It’s achieved the desired objectives and achieved an annual efficiency as1.807million yuan. At the same time, a well-trained project team is formatted.the dissemination of Six Sigma thinking and for the future to further is promoted.
