The Effect Of China’s Agriculture Technology Progress On The Income Of The Farmers

Been the long-term emphasis of issues of agriculture, farmer and rural area, increasing the income of farmers is an essential aspect which restricts the development of our nation’s economy and influents the stability and unity of our society, as well as an acting point and objective of coordinating the development of urban and rural areas to build a new socialist countryside. However, in recent years the income of farmers is increasing quite slowly, with the extending of the income gap between urban and rural areas, which has been one of the serious problems of the development of agriculture and countryside. Technological advances in agriculture is the key path of developing agriculture and increasing farmers’income, but recently with the rapid advances of agriculture technology, the increasing pace of farmer’s income is incompatible with the advances of technology, after the satisfaction of agricultural products demanding. On the country, it starts to stagnate even drop down. Therefore, research of the influences of technological advances of agriculture on the income of farmers has a significant effect on dealing issues of agriculture, farmer and rural area and coordinating the development of urban and rural areas.The thesis firstly analyzes three major problems concerning farmers’income, namely the increasing gap between the income of urban and rural residents, the lagging increasing of farmers’income behind economical development, and the obvious income gap between farmers from different areas. Then the author calculates the levels of total factor productivity of the east, middle and west areas of our nation based on the Malmquist method of Data Envelopment Analysis, DEA. At last, by construction var model, the balanced relation long exsiting between technological advances and farmers’ income is confirmed, and the degree of influence is investigated between the two aspects. In a word, the influence of technological advances in agriculture on farmers’income is significant, but due to the different natural and social elements, this influence is differentiated in different areas. With the purpose of rapid developing agricultural technology as well as the income of farmers, reflected combing the problems exsiting in the development of agricultural technology, this thesis finally proposes several policy suggestions from perspectives of insisting boost agriculture by technology, enhancing the government support, accelerating transformation of achievement into productivity, prompting agriculture extension, improving the quality of farmers and promoting the process of industrialization.
