In the era of knowledge of economy, knowledge management is becoming more and more important. Especially for information technology companies, they adopt knowledge management also because of development and innovation. With development of information technology, IT department is more important and closer to operation, and is creating more value, therefore it is a key strategy to keep the advantage of IT department. It is an important topic how to improve core competence through effective knowledge management.IT operation center is responsible for IT construction and maintenance in company L. With the fast development of group business, IT system is getting more complicated and IT technician staff is increasing, IT center is facing difficulties such as high cost, low efficiency and overdependence on staff personal ability. Combining related theory and practice, this paper analyzes deeply into L’s IT situation and proposes a knowledge management solution scheme to solve present problems. Firstly, need to know the exact target of company L’s knowledge management. By documenting staff’s technic and experience and shifting from high skill to low skill to reduces IT cost and staff turnover rate; Secondly, in the process of foundation of knowledge management, it remands to propose a practical management scheme according to current reality, and put into practice. Thirdly, after foundation of this knowledge management scheme, it needs a series of KPI and cultural measure to guarantee the continuous operation. By the meantime, this article divides steps in this management system and defines different jobs in its corresponding steps, to make sure the stable operation of this knowledge management project.By research of the construction of knowledge management system, the author know more about management and solve a lot of real problems in IT operation department, and put forward much reference to knowledge management in other enterprises.
