Study On The Coordinated Development Of Employment Structure And Urbanization In Hunan Province

Employment restructuring and urbanization is an important part of China’seconomic and social development at present. In the crucial period of transition,properly handle the issue of employment restructuring and urbanization related to thedeepening of the reform and social stability for China. Employment restructuring andthe urbanization are both the process of the population and the way of life andproduction from the traditional agriculture to non-agricultural. Scholars generallyagree that there is a close link between employment structure and urbanization, butstudies on the coordinated development of employment structure and urbanization fora specific area are rarely. As a big province of traditional agriculture and farmers,Hunan province’s employment structure is not synchronous optimization with therapid advance of urbanization process, there is a certain deviation between them.Therefore, study on the coordinated development of employment structure andurbanization in Hunan province has important theoretical and practical significance.Based on the relevant theories of employment structure and urbanization, thispaper selects data from1990to2012, introduces coordination degree evaluationmodel, constructs system-analysis framework of coordinated development, andconducts empirical study on the coordinated development of employment structureand urbanization in Hunan province. Firstly, this paper analyzes the evolution rule ofemployment structure and urbanization in Hunan province, based on this, make abasic qualitative judgment about the interaction association of them, considering thatthere is a correlation between the employment structure and urbanization in Hunanprovince. Secondly, builds the corresponding index system according to thecoordinated development system structure of employment structure and coordinationurbanization, and calculate the employment structure and urbanization comprehensivelevel, find that employment structure optimized constantly and urbanizationcomprehensive level improved fast in Hunan province. And then, use econometricanalysis tool to quantitative analysis the relationship between employment structureand urbanization, ensure that there is long-term positive co-integration relationshipand Granger causality between them. Thirdly, the paper use the coordination degreeevaluation model to evaluate the coordinated development level between Hunanprovince’s employment structure and urbanization, find that, from less coordination tobasic coordination then to coordinated development, their coordination degree has three stages. But the coordination degree decreased in recent years, because theemployment structure adjustment can’t keep up with the pace of urbanizationdevelopment. Last but not the least, in view of the problems that Hunan provincefaces in employment structure and urbanization coordinated development, somesuggestions of how to promote the coordinated development of employment structureand urbanization in Hunan province are put forward from four aspects: optimize theindustrial structure, overall labor market, improve the quality of workers and therational urbanization.
