Research On Security Evaluation Of Building Materials Industry

Building materials industry is an important basic industry of the national economy. Since the reform and opening up, with the prosperity of China’s large-scale infrastructure projects and real estate market, it has made great progress with an increasingly significant pillar position in the national economy. However, due to the lack of scientific development plan, problems of building materials industry become serious after a few years’ spurt of development, such as industrial capacity irrational, backward production technology and large energy consumption, posing a great threat to industry security. Besides, under the background of energy conservation and low-carbon economy policies, building materials industry is also facing new challenges because of its high energy consumption and pollution. In this paper, empirical research on security of building materials industry is conducted based on historical data, which on the one hand is helpful to understand current situation, on the other hand also helps establish goals and direction of future development, ensuring the industry keep safe and orderly.Based on industry economics, industrial security, statistics and other basic theories, the security of China’s building materials industry is studied in this thesis with a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Firstly, a comprehensive summary about researches on industrial security and building materials industry is described. Then considered its development situation and main influencing factors, the industry security evaluation index system is built, combined with results of previous studies. Each index in the system is set a reasonable limited range and a weight by using analytic hierarchy process. With this system and grey prediction model, the industry’s development trend in next five years and security value over the years are estimated based on the historical data from2003to2010. Finally the conclusion shows that China’s building materials industry locates in the "basic security" situation, but there are signs of deterioration in the future, which should be paid more attention. According to this and considering the new opportunities and challenges, some suggestions on the future development are provided.
