With modern enterprise competition intensified, enterprises (especially Small andMedium Enterprises) are under growing pressure of competition, if you want to win insuch a fierce environment, more important is to have a strong human resources. As thebackbone of enterprise management,middle-level managers are both participants in thedecision-making and implement practitioners, they have very important position. Whetherthey have good competency is related to the improvement of job performance andenterprise sustainable development. However, in the practical enterprise management,Short board of job performance improvement in business circles often comes from theconstraints of middle-level managers competency.So, this paper analyzes middle-levelmanagers competency constituted and the relationship between competency and jobperformance of SMES middle-level managers. Then,we put forward the proposal of howto manage the middle-level managers to enhance job performance,and establish thecomparative advantage of enterprise.First, this study expounds the research background, significance and domestic andforeign research results. in addition, introduced some relevant theories on SMEs andmiddle-level managers,and then theoretical support for this study of competency and jobperformance theoryies are introduced.Second, based on the above theories and BEI,we determined the competency projectsof SMEs middle-level managers. Then, we collected data through the questionnairemethod and used SPSS17.0and AMOS17.0software,we made exploratory andconfirmatory analysis on the above questionnaire results to build the competency model ofSMEs middle-level managers which constructed five dimensions include personalqualities, interpersonal communication, execution capability, leadership and developmentcapability.Again, the paper analyzed the relationship between competency and job performanceof SMES middle-level managers. It verified significant correlation between competencyand job performance and different competency dimensions exist significant differences in the impact of different dimensions of job performance.Finally, on the basis of the empirical analysis above and theory, strategies were putforward about how to improve competency of enterprise middle-level managers,aim toimprove job performance and enterprise sustained competitiveness.
