Buddhist Catalogs are very important for the research of ancient Chinese BuddhismPhilology.Buddhism was introduced into China,during the Western Han Dynasty.With thetranslation of Buddhist classics,Buddhist Catalogs have been produced, developed and mature.Ithas influenced the China’s traditional bibliography t,while the Buddhist Catalog also have theunique value of bibliography as itself.There was quite a number of studies on Buddhist catalogs before.But the deficiency is that thereis not research of Buddhist catalogs wich were written in Ming and Qing dynasties. This paperwill study the Ming and Qing Dynasties’ Buddhist catalogs. Try the best to dig out the details ofBuddhist catalogs written that time,including the writing backgrounds, system of classification,and the differences between this time slot and the time before.The first chapter of this paper will introduce the history of the ancient Chinese BuddhismPhilology. The second chapter will be the introduction of Buddhist catalogs of Ming and Qingdynasties. The third chapter will talk about the Characteristics of Buddhist catalogs in Ming andQing dynasties through comparisons of many aspects.And the forth chapter will analyse thechanging details of the Ming and Qing Dynasties’ Buddhist catalogs,compared with the oneswhich were written before.Then,we will discussed the significance of this research in the lastchapter.As an important branch of the Chinese Buddhism bibliography, Buddhist catalogs of Ming andQing dynasties are very important to study.The achievements will be very helpful to the study ofMing and Qing dynasties’Buddhist development.
