With the rapid development of electronic science and technology and the improvement of people’s living standard, the demand for mobile phone, tablet and other consumer electronics is increasing day by day, the performance of the glass material as a display is also getting more attention, to solve the glass edge crack problem efficiently and with high quality to strengthen the performance of glass products, we need a automatically coating and curing solution. General CNC machine tool is unable to meet the needs of the action of coating processes,so we need some targeted treatment and development. The use of open CNC system based on Linux to bring a lot of convenience to project implementation, but there is still a lack of automatic programming software. Although there are a number of good CAM software on the market, but most of them run on the Windows, and their structures are relatively closed so they are difficult to adapt to the variety needs of CNC machine tools, so it is significant to develop the CAM software on Linux which can realize the automatic program of special process.The project includes the design of machine tool, the development of the CNC system, the development of CAM software and so on. This paper mainly for the relevant work of polar coordinate coating machine CAM software, on the other part only briefly described. Firstly, the CAM software framework based on Linux is built, and the software is divided into two modules: drawing module and automatic programming module, and realize the connection of the two. Secondly, combined with characteristics of polar coordinates the coating process was modeled and analyzed, by using the variable step size method to ext ract contour node, and calculate the location information of each axis in coating process. Then, the simulation of the coating process, the offset error and the factors of generating contour error are analyzed, and the improvement measures are put forward. Finally, combined with software module design and coating machine object features complete the implementation of CAM software.Through simple graphics rendering and parameter settings, the CAM software developed in this paper can automatically generate NC code for polar coordinate coating machine CNC system, help accurately complete a series of actions such as glue, curing, and these greatly improve the efficiency of the work. The contrast test of coating glass and no-coating glass shows that the coating reinforcement has a good effect in improving the strength of glass.
