The data collected by the polarimetric IPIX radar is one of the most important data source for sea clutter research. Many achievements are based on this data. This thesis extracted and analyzed the return data from IPIX radar,aiming to understand the way of the pulse radar data storage and the format of Net CDF dee ply. The statistical characteristics of the time domain and frequency domain analysis of sea clutter are achieved using the radar signal processing method. This can provide reference for the algorithm of detection, clutter suppression, waveform design and so on.Firstly, the IPIX radar system is introduced and its features are analyzed. Through the Multi-channel pulse radar data acquisition and storage model, the way of data storage is explained. Then, the composition of the Net CDF data format and how to use Matlab functions to read the radar files is described. All of that lays the foundation for the following analysis. Further, the normalized time amplitude image, time distance image and time Doppler image are plotted respectively.Secondly, several amplitude distribution models in different sea surface radar scenes are analyzed. Then, the compound Gaussian model is verified through analysis of in-phase and out-of-phase component, CDF-fitting and PDF-fitting. The temporal and spatial correlation is investigated separately with some corresponding conclusions.Finally, several typical clutter power spectrum models are depicted briefly. The power spectrum of measured data is estimated by Welch method and the shape of PSD is explained combining with the scattering mechanism. Then, the parameters in the power spectrum models are evaluated using the estimated PSD. The matching between the estimated PSD and PSD models are achieved at last.
