Marshall Mcluhan said that Media is not only the basic driving force of the development of our society, but also a key point to distinguish the differences of social forms. It declares that we step into a new period by generating and using each new media. It announces that we have come into a new media period digital after the rapidly development of a new media form with a core of digital technology. Sina Weibo, Wechat and Apps in our mobile phones have become an important part of our daily life for their great effect on it. There is no doubt that the new media must bring changes to our life when it brings convenience at the same time. These revolutionary changes also arise in the area of political communication. The mission of building and propagating the image of state leaders undertaken by traditional media has transferred to new media. So the state leaders of most of countries have shifted the way of political communication on new media.This thesis does researching on this historical background. Taking the most popular new media platform WeChat Public Platform and Xi Jinping as the researching subject, this thesis also studies on Xi Jinping"s media image building by We Chat Public Platform and the communication skills in the perspective of the political communication.The first chapter introduces the research origin and leads to the three issues such as the new media image of our country"s leader. It also tells the research design and the research method on these three issues.The second chapter is the content analysis on the reports about Xi Jinping in We Chat Public Platform. The content analysis in this chapter bases on the theme, the length, the form, the quantity of the pictures, the content of the pictures, the titles, the relation between the titles and the content and the tendency of the titles. For making the consequence more objective, this thesis analyzes Xi"s media image in the reports of People’s Daily at the same period. It shows different Xi"s media images in new and old media by comparing them. Xi"s media image is more civilian, youthful and individualized in WeChat Public Platform. It is more authoritative, serious and powerful in People’s Daily.The third part shows the significances in each image character by analyzing the Xi "s new media image in each report. In this part, it tries to find the peculiarities and the limitations of WeChat Public Platform by analyzing the writing features and communication features of it. It also shows how the peculiarities and the limitations react on the building of Xi" s new media image.The last part of this thesis is conclusion. It tells the social background and the meaning of Xi "s new media image. At last, this chapter compares Xi" s new media image in different periods and finds the advancements and limitations of the new media using in political communication field in our country.
