With the needs of the development of digital technology and Internet TV, radio and television operators are faced with increasingly fierce competition in the market in all directions. After interactive TV, social TV and other business models appeared, the user has higher requirement for cable TV viewers. Electronic program guide(EPG) is no longer a simple form of DVB based program introduction, but a DVB content distribution platform combined with interactive TV business platform, combining with the radio and two-way network providing the rich content of intelligent viewing experience.As cable operators, Qinhuangdao radio and television networks have been constantly engaged in two-way network transformation, as of now, Qinhuangdao two-way cable TV network coverage is 90% or more. In order to improve the dependence on traditional network business to gain a better user experience, based on the bidirectional network, this paper puts forward the concept of intelligent EPG system, and studies the following questions:Firstly, this paper analyzed the basic principles, the function realization, implementations and key technologies of the traditional EPG system, and noted that, comparing with the on demand mode of two way network, one to many broadcast mode of unidirectional network had deficiencies in broadcast and receive information, causing the user channel search process was cumbersome, so the user experience was far from ideal.Then, this paper designed the intelligent EPG system architecture. Based on two-way network, this system used a distributed deployment scenarios, including five parts, namely, the underlying database, data mining center, data center operations, security certification center and external data interface, realizing a richer EPG information, by the extraction extend the reorganization, feedback to the user of existing television programs.Finally, this paper designed the TV page definition, the definition of back-office functions and docking with the system. With different trigger conditions, it designed navigation Home, program details page, the program table page, etc; It achieved the interactive platform manageability by rights management, document management, and other back-office functions. Docking with CMS systems, time-shift systems, search engines and other systems to achieved the updated, looking back, search functions of program content, building a complete digital television intelligent EPG system.
