It’s difficult for transport network technologies like ATM/FR/SDH/MSTP to provide line leases services to adapt for bandwidth-scalable (from 10M-1000Mbps). Business demands the CATV service providers to build a new carrier network. This thesis analyzes advantages and disadvantages of data lines network solutions over current carrier networks, researches customers’business needs and proposes building requirements of a new carrier network that can provide transparent pipes Ethernet services.This thesis studies the carrier network technologies of VPLS, PBT and MPLS-TP which can provide transparent pipes Ethernet services. VPLS is the two layer of the VPN technology based on MPLS and Ethernet Technology. VPN data transmission is realized through the establishment of PW between PE devices and methods of MAC address learning. Data forwarding is not based on VLAN but on the VSI. VLAN ID has the local effective. VPLS has good network expansion ability, mature technology standard and the maximum bandwidth of up to 10G. The development of virtualization and the two layer ring protection technology simplifies the deployment of VPLS network and reduces the network complexity. This thesis brings forward the network solution of building VPLS network and describes how to help customers to build their own private data network based on the Suzhou CATV’s VPLS network. The validity of network construction is verificated through the test.The VPLS carrier network based on this solution can provide high bandwidth Ethernet interface from 10M-1000Mbps to Gigabit and transparent pipes Ethernet services not engage customers IP address & routing planning. It is configured easily on the two ends PE unlike VLAN-based services which is needed to configure hop by hop. The deployment of VPLS network helps service providers to reduce data lines opening cost and raise the utilization rate of bandwidth resources. Data lines over VPLS network are better alternative products for those over SDH and ATM/FR.
