The rapid development of the Internet brings great opportunities to the operators, but also proposes a higher requirement to its Backbone network. It is hoped that IP networks can provide electronic access, mail, real-time business and other services. MPLS is generated in this context, and it integrates ATM switching and IP routing technology, simplifies the data forwarding process, shortens the data forwarding time and improves the network transmission speed. MPLS is mainly used in MPLS TE, MPLS VPN and so on. MPLS VPN technology has been widely used in a variety of large-scale network, and it provides large industrial users of the VPN network inter-provincial cross-border services.VPLS is a second layer of the VPN, and is a multi-multipoint MPLS-based Ethernet switching business. The VPLS service must be all in their own backbone network, fully connected between border routers. It limits the scalability of the network and is not conducive to the network upgrade. Therefore this article presents H-VPLS on this basis, and the VPLS networks are layered network. The basic idea is that dividing VPLS network into the access layer and core layer. In H-VPLS network, the only logical fully connected in the core network, the access layer is responsible for the user's packets access to core layer, so you can layer network topology and extend access range. Meanwhile, in order to enhance network robustness,this thesis configures a backup link between the edge access devices and core devices. In this thesis, the H-VPLS system of using BFD reduces standby link switching time greatly and improves the speed of the network fault detection and recovery. Further packet loss rate of packets also have a marked improvement in results, and meet the high requirements of real-time business fast fault below the rank of second Recovery.
