China is an aquaculture superpower, with the increasingly lack of land and resources, we must improve the density of the aquaculture and the level of automation to expand the aquaculture industry. Environment is the main factor of restricting the aquaculture’s development. In order to improve the life enviroment of aquatic animals, we should monitor the temperature of the water, pH value, dissolved oxygen concentration and turbidity parameters. Now, neither homebred aquaculture equipment nor monitoring system cannot be deployed at the scene. The fishing equipment and monitoring system, bought from abroad, are very expensive. Both of them can not be widely put into force in China. In order to solve the problem, this thesis puts forward a kind of energy-efficient aquaculture environment monitoring system based on ZigBee, which realized the monitoring of the environmental parameters, such as water temperature, pH value, dissolved oxygen concentration and turbidity.The wireless sensor network was designed based on ZigBee, the Sensor node was designed by CC2530 chip. There were signal conditioning circuits of temperature, pH value, dissolved oxygen and turbidity to be designed. The program of the node was developed based on Z-Stack protocol stack while the PC software was implemented based on Labview and SQLServer. This thesis used the method of time-sharing/partition power supply and data fusion technology to extend the lifespan of the node. The thesis not only introduced the system’s design method of software and hardware, but also expounded the energy saving strategy of software and hardware.At the end of the thesis, the protype system were tested. Test results of the sensor precision show that sensor test error can be controlled within 2% and accuracy can meet the design requirements, which satisfy the demand of the actual measurement. System energy-saving effect test show that node life is doubled with the energy saving technology. Therefore, the system has the advantages of low power consumption, stable operation, long network lifetime, and so on. It can realize the real-time monitoring of aquaculture environment, and has the very good market prospect and promotion value.
