Satellite communication has many advantages, such as large coverage,high reliability, large capacity, and so on, which are widely used in various communication systems. Among them, the antenna plays an important role. The function of the antenna is to transmit and receive electromagnetic wave.Satellite communication earth station work to control the antenna beam pointing direction of the antenna so that the maximum extent of the required points to receive and make minimal interference,to meet the finder when searching, tracking, after the success of satellite transmission and reception of data requirements.The advantages and disadvantages of the satellite communication system largely depend on the performance of the antenna. Antenna performance is directly reflected in the antenna pattern, we can obtain the desired performance parameters by image information, to evaluate the antenna. Because the antenna is the antenna of the ship, it is required to be able to work under the external force, so it is needed to test the receive signal pattern to evaluate the performance of the antenna.In this paper, shipborne satellite communication earth station for the research and development service targets, detailing embedded monitoring system’s online testing software design ideas,module classification and implementation details. First, a brief introduction of the operation parameters of monitor system, and then focuses on the antenna pattern required several indicators, including the characteristics of the main lobe, sidelobe characteristics, polarization and antenna gain, and receive signal pattern. Subsequently filed antenna overall online test program and describes equipment needed to test and test equipment hardware features and communication protocols. A later chapter focuses on online testing software design process, including the design and purpose of requirements analysis, detailed design outline design module and specific techniques. Finally, the software collects from the online program to test the image data and the results of analysis.Currently the online test software has been applied to the research and development work of shipboard satellite communications earth station, and achieved good results.
