In contemporary information society, information literacy become particularly important for people’ lifelong learning and competitiveness enhancing. In order to stimulate the players’ interest about information education knowledge and to improve the learning efficiency, the information literacy educational game which combines the way of educational game with the content of information literacy knowledge is designed.However, comparing to the popularity of video games, the information literacy educational games seem less appealing to those players. To solve these problems, the internal design will be improved as to create the "game space" from the aspects such as character、prop、scene and story, and its purpose is to establishing the good atmosphere for players.In this paper, at first, the constructivism theory、flow theory、cognitive development theory and their relationships with "game space" are analyzed, and the contents of "game space" are analyzed from the constituent elements, space types and characteristics, and the significance respectively. Then, the concept of "game space" has been introduced to educational game, as to determine the its elements、function and significance. Furthermore, the differences between traditional playground’s physical "game space"and educational game’s virtual "game space" are analyzed, and two examples, one is the theme park "Happy Valley" in Wuhan City, another is one of the educational games "the Book Talk" which is developed by Tsinghua University, have been analyzed to make a clear impression of "game space".On these bases mentioned above, the characteristics of information literacy education and the content of information literacy education have been analyzed, then the concept of "game space" has also been introduced to information literacy educational game, next, the influencing factors for the creating of the information literacy educational game’s "game space" are analyzed, and then the function and significance of the information literacy educational game’s "game space" are defined. Meanwhile, the design principles of "game space" and the main elements characters、props、scenes and plots which compose the major parts of information literacy educational game’s "game space" are made detailed analyses. In the following part, an example "Quarantined" which is a information literacy educational game developed by Arizona State University library is chosen to give specific details.Finally, according to the design philosophy of information literacy educational game’s "game space", an information literacy educational game "The Cellar of Grandpa" is designed and made. Then recruiting students to play this game, meanwhile, the questionnaire surveys are made to collect the data for analyzing. At last, a summary is made of these results.
