ZigBee is a wireless sensor network technology which has the characteristics of low-power, close-range, and strong networking capabilities. It requires high self-configuration capability in the smart home application, so the research on ZigBee self-configuration is necessary, which would enhance the network stability, robustness and autonomy.The techniques of self-configuration based on perceived change of network connection states by sensor network nodes are studied in this thesis. To resolve the issue that the connection with network is losed due to the link failure in ZigBee network, the method ofextended rejoin processfor the link failure node is put forward. The sensor network node can be regarded as a coordinating agent of the sub-tree network when perceived losing connection with network, and carry all sub-tree network nodes to rejoin the network. The method can keep the sub-tree network structure unchanged, so the consumption of resources by reconstruction can be reduced. The standard ZigBee rejoin processing mechanism is extended by using the mode of node transferring, and releasing the address of saturated node to link failure node, in order to increase the utilization of address space and the success rate of rejoining network, and enhance the stability and robustness of network.The ZigBee self-configuation prototype system based on CC2530 is designed and implemented, which includes ZigBee wireless sensor networks and the client software, and realizes data acquisition and link failure node self-configuation functions. The experiments that validate the self-configuration approach of link failure node in ZigBee network is conducted on the prototype system.The results of the experiments show that nodes can deal with link failures and recover connection effectively. The simulation experiments based on Matlab is designed and implemented to evaluate the performance of self-configuration approach in the case of a number of sensor network nodes. The experiment results show that the performance of self-configuration approach is higher than ZigBee standard protocol.
